About Me

Hello and Welcome to Saving For Someday!

I’m Sara and I’ve made this my little home on the internet since January 2010. I’ve been online since dial-up, Angelfire and GeoCities were what all the cool kids were doing. And have had a personal email account since 1989. Yes, I’m that old!

Cycle Guy's Serrotta

In real life I am the wife to a man I call CycleGuy, and a mom to an amazingly precocious little girl (yikes, she’s 10!) affectionately known as BabyGirl. Why CycleGuy? He rides a bike. For fun. About 1,000 miles a month. He has a terrific bike, and has confiscated the bike I used to ride because it’s a shame to see a good bike go unridden. He’s crazy, but it’s a great sport and he has fun. Except for the time he was hit. Luckily the biggest damage was to his bike. Now, he mainly rides a Serrotta or my Orbea.

I have a graduate degree in business and am a licensed attorney. I love being an attorney. I have worked with multi-national companies, small business, entrepreneurs, and families. I write about legal and ethical aspects of business, especially for the digital entrepreneur. My first experience with digital law was writing my first TOS in 1995 as a law clerk. If I wasn’t a lawyer I would be a corporate ethicist. Weird, I know.

So what’s the deal with this blog? Well, when I turned 40 I realized that I was doing a lot of things for other people and very little for myself. My family had experienced a serious trauma and I was trying to rise from the ashes. I found myself with a list of things I had been keeping for years. Things I would do “someday”. And I realized that many of my friends were doing the same thing – putting things off until this time called someday. We were finding excuses – mortgage, tuition, medical bills, cars, braces for the kids, sports, music lessons, etc. – not to do for ourselves.

I write about a lot of things. I’m not a deal blogger or a real frugal blogger. I share deals and grocery match ups for my local stores because these are things people in my everyday life were asking about. Saving money is my thing and I enjoy sharing opportunities for my friends to save money too. I share recipes of  foods I enjoy making, product reviews of stuff I like and I think you’ll like too, and a little of this and some of that. Then I throw the legal stuff in. Sharing legal information is my way of giving back. Like I said, I love being a lawyer. And I believe the law should be easy to understand. I went to law school so you don’t have to!

What else? Disney is my go-to vacation spot. Seriously, it’s impossible to have a bad time at Disney. I have been to Disneyland over 500 times and waited to go to Disney World until I was in my late 30s because I wanted to stay at one of the Deluxe resorts. We love to travel, but we don’t go as often as we’d like. My favorite destination with CycleGuy is Paris, and after spending 10-days in Italy with BabyGirl that’s high on my list to visit again.

I’ve been fortunate to work with some wonderful brands who aren’t scared off by the fact that I’m a lawyer. I’ve been asked to speak at blog conferences and graduate school programs, where I use plain english to talk about Digital and Blog-related Law. I’ve also written articles on law-related topics for several print and online publications.

When I have free time, I enjoy writing cards and letters, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. I have hundreds of things I want to do “someday” and this is my way of not only being accountable to myself but also encouraging other to Stop Wishing. Start Doing.
