If it comes from a box but I make it at home it’s still a Homemade Holiday

Homemade Holiday

Disclosure: Safeway sent me a holiday gift basket. This is not a sponsored post, but I do have a working relationship with them and make this disclosure in compliance with the FTC disclosure rules.

What happens to all the fun and excitement after the presents are opened, the toys are strewn all over the house, and you’ve eaten your way through several holiday celebrations? No one feels like cooking, much less baking. But, honestly, it’s those last days of the year when we’re feeling nostalgic and wanting to do things that “create memories” for our friends and family. All those dreams of a magical holiday may have been dreams, but it’s not too late to make them come true.

Throughout the year I work with Safeway on a variety of programs and it was lovely of them to send me a gift basket to make the holiday season sweeter. And while I don’t celebrate Christmas, I do visit with friends and family so it’s nice to have a special treat to share with them. With the hectic pace of the holidays it’s often last-minute visits, but that doesn’t stop me from creating something homemade.

But, homemade doesn’t always have to mean “made from scratch”. My friend Christi at Love From The Oven has so many easy and delicious recipes that allow me to look like a baking rock star when really I’m nothing more than a reality show contestant. Within a few hours I can have hot-from-the-oven Cake Mix Cinnamon Rolls and uber-deluxe Caramel Toffee Brownies simply by using a few store-bought mixes. And it will be our little secret!

Sometimes it’s nice to make treats to leave behind and my go-to is a sweet and salty combo that kids can help make. Baking cookies with the little ones is great, but when you don’t want to go all out but still want to have that bonding experience Chocolate Covered Pretzels save the day! These are easy to customize and kids and adults alike love these.

The holidays are to be celebrated and experienced. No one should be trapped in the kitchen wishing they were laughing and enjoying friends and family. The years go by quickly so make memories to last a lifetime!
