Guest Post: Meet Mamavation Mom Finalist Heather Sokol

Like Sara, I have a huge list of things I want to do someday – and I’ve found a way to make “someday” a part of my present. For years, I went through life making a mental list of things I wanted to do or places I wanted to visit. The list only grew longer with each passing year. Finally, I figured out I would need an actual plan to make it happen.

I created a list of 40 things I want to before my 40th birthday. My 40×40 list helps me stay focused and find ways to work new experiences or goals into my life. One of the biggies? Weight loss – I’d like to get back down to a healthy BMI. It’s been on the list for five years, but it never happened.

Uh, probably because I didn’t do anything to make it happen. So, this year, I put it on my short list of things to work towards. I cut back on soda, until I finally eliminated it altogether. I cut down on snacking. And, I found a support system to help me stay motivated & accountable.

The Mamavation Sistahood is a fabulous group of women dedicated to health, fitness and supporting one another through the changes necessary to healthy living and weight loss. I’m so excited that Sara has joined the Sistahood with me – to make a difference in her own life while supporting those around her.

(Especially me – I’m so blessed to have such a fabulous friend, not to mention #TeamHeather captain!)

She’s been a huge cheerleader on my journey to be the next Mamavation Mom! I have made it to the final round and hope to be a leader for both my family’s health and the Mamavation Sistahood. If I am selected as a Mamavation Mom, I will spend 8 weeks in Bookie Boo’s virtual fitness bootcamp – with all the tools & support I need to reach my goals.
