Join the Listerine 21-day Challenge For Healthier Teeth and Gums

Disclosure: I received LISTERINE® Brand products and a Walgreens gift card from Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc. and The Motherhood as part of my participation in the LISTERINE® 21-Day Challenge. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own. I hope you will join me!

My seemingly abnormal love of Listerine began years ago when they came out with those little pocketpak strips. It probably started before that, but those little breath freshening strips sealed the deal. I grew up in a family who paid attention to oral hygiene and dental care. It was a point of pride that most people in my family did not have cavities or need extensive dental work as they got older. I remember standing up on a stool in the bathroom as a little girl while my grandma checked my teeth at night.

Fast forward 30-some years and I’m the parent and wanting my daughter to have good dental and oral care habits. I know the importance of good oral hygiene because I have a heredity dental issue that will require me to have gum surgery shortly. At a recent visit, the periodontist was complimentary of how well I’ve taken care of my teeth and reassured me that my gum issue was not related to poor dental hygiene. As a matter of fact, he said, there is a specific code for those of us who have gum recession with healthy teeth. It made me feel a bit better.

However, one thing he did mention was that there was still room for improvement. That’s why I said yes when asked to be part of the Listerine 21-day Challenge. My dentist specifically suggested that I pay close attention to my evening dental routine, which was something I often gave the minimal 2 minutes. I figured my fancy sonic toothbrush was all I needed. While the dentist was supportive, he suggested I floss twice daily and use a dental rinse more frequently. It’s hard to argue with someone whose teeth are perfectly straight and pearly white.

My family and I are signed up for the Listerine 21-day Challenge and I hope you’ll join us. With just a few extra minutes a day in the morning and before bed, you’ll be on your way to healthier teeth and gums. Did you know that brushing alone misses about 75% of your mouth? While I’ll be brushing, flossing, and rinsing because my dentist has asked me to do this, when you join the Listerine 21-day Challenge you’re just agreeing to rinse morning and night for 21-days. Of course, you’ll do your normal brushing and flossing routine but by adding the step of using Listerine Antiseptic or Anticavity Mouthwash you’ll reach more of the areas that bushing alone misses. This step has been important for me because of my gum recession issues.

Did you know February is National Children’s Dental Health Month? This 21-day challenge is a great way to get kids involved in a healthy oral care routine, too. I’ve been buying the Listerine Smart Rinse fluoride rinse for BabyGirl for many years and it’s always been the bonus rinse at the end of the before bed toothbrushing routine. As soon as she saw the Frozen movie branded rinse, it was jettisoned to her bathroom for an immediate use.

As part of the Listerine 21-day Challenge you’ll have access to an expert in fitness, nutrition or home organization and you will receive daily personalized emails with tips, videos, and encouragement to establish good habits in your chosen area. Also, by signing up for the challenge and sticking with your rinsing routine, you will have a daily opportunity to instantly win prizes, including a Fitbit, a $100 Container Store Gift Card or an Amazon Fire TV! For every seven consecutive days you swish, you’ll be entered into one of the sweepstakes drawings for a grand prize.

While you can find Listerine products at a number of stores, I find that my local Walgreens always has my favorites in stock. There’s one specific type of the new Listerine floss that is my favorite and it’s the only place I know I’m sure to find it. Also, since I’m a couponing kind of gal Walgreens weekly deals are another one of my good habits.

I hope you’ll sign up and join me in this oral health care challenge. It’s just 21-days and I’m sure by the end of it you’ll see great result that will keep you and your family brushing, flossing, and rinsing your way to compliments from your dentist. I’ll check back in to see how you’re doing and encourage you to keep going. Don’t forget to sign up so you can be entered for a chance to win those cool prizes!
