Mamavation Monday: The Heat Is On

by

The first Monday in April. A day to get the week off right, enjoy a spring day, feel the warmth on your skin. Although in many parts of the country there are severe storm watches, snow, rain and tornado watches. And here, in Phoenix, it’s what most people would call summer. Friday we had our first official 100-degree day. No, that’s not an April Fool’s joke either.

I’ve been trying to have the Mamavation to get out and exercise, but I would whine that it’s too cold. Now the mercury is rising. And while we may have one last cold snap left before we’re consistently above 100-degrees for weeks, now I’m hearing myself grumble that it’s too hot. And I love the heat! It’s just easier to join the groupthink mentality so I don’t have to go out.

Today is the last day to vote for my friend Heather for Momavation Mom and I hope you will, if you haven’t already. It’s not often that we get to help someone else make a real positive change in their life. We’ve all lost and gained and lost some more weight. It’s part of being a woman. A mom. This time though, we’ve got a HUGE support system with the Mamavation Sistahood and all the other women who, like us, have succeeded and re-succeeded and then succeed again at losing weight and making lifestyle changes

According to my thermometer, Summer is here. I’m not ready. I’m not ready to get out in a swimsuit, much less show you what I look like in one. I’m not embarrassed. I’m just not that confident. Heather is so committed to being open about her weight loss journey that she has posted her ‘before’ photos. Now that’s MAMAvation!

We all know we have just a few more weeks before it’s shorts and tank-top weather. So join me, and Heather, as we ‘put the heat on’ and get a jump on summer!

If you’re on Twitter, join in tonight’s Twitter party where we’ll be celebrating the official launch of the Mamavation campaign—including the announcement of the next Mamavation Mom.

Ugh, 100 degree days for weeks at a time? I don’t think I could handle that, but I am jealous of the nice weather you have right now!
Have a great week!

Laura,

After awhile, if it’s less than 110 it doesn’t bother me. Sounds crazy, but like cold weather I guess I’ve just gotten used to the hot.

KICKBOARDS!! It is pool time all the time. Here in Boulder we had 80 on Saturday then it was snowing the next day – we’ll have some back and forth for a bit but the flip flops are out.

Kia,

I’ve seen the crazy weather you’ve had. My husband is from Denver and he tells me stories all the time of growing up with days in the 70s only to wake up and find he had to walk to school in snow. It’ll melt and you’ll have beautiful flowers! Tradeoffs!
