More Feng Shui – Maximizing Positive Energy In My Home Part 2

Front of House

Front of House

Yesterday I posted about my recent update to my home with my Feng Shui Master, Lisa.  I’ve been working with Lisa for about 5 years now and during this time we’ve made some changes to my house to encourage the positive energy flow.  Usually they are easy and inexpensive changes.  For example, at my front door I have a little fountain.  This flowing water is not just a cute decorator touch but in Feng Shui the flowing of water in this part of my home helps to bring about better Chi for abundance and prosperity.

One of the types of feng shui Lisa uses is based on a mapping or layout of your home.  The way my house is situated the front door area symbolizes the career, path of life or foundational areas of life.  Because of this, water at the front of my home is an important element.  I have a fountain outside as well as inside.

If you look closely you’ll also see a large-ish rock by the window.  It’s not there for any reason other than to be something heavy to symbolize a foundational element.  It looks good, though, doesn’t it?  Another think you will see is a black sign.  It’s black for a reason — because black symbolizes water.  Starting to see a pattern?  The sign says ‘Please Remove Shoes’.  In these parts it’s not very common to remove shoes when entering a home.  However, for feng shui purposes it’s best to remove shoes.  From a cleaning perspective it sure helps too!

Come inside!  I have to get a better picture of the inside, but for now this is what I have.  Again, you’ll notice some black with the fabric.  All purposeful, symbolizing water.  There is another small fountain too.  In addition, which you can’t see, CycleGuy has arranged all the pictures on the wall to be of our family in, near or around water.  Stylistically it works very well!

Terra Cotta Warriors
Terra Cotta Warriors

You see my little men?  They are replica Terra Cotta Warriors.  These little guys are my protectors.  I have a few sets around the house and they look out windows.  The Terra Cotta Warriors are believed to be protectors of the first emperor of China.   In the 1970s an entier city was unearthed in Xian, China which showed thousands of unique warriors, as well as animals, made of terra cotta and life-size.  They date back over 2,000 years.  My little guys stand watch over my house.  They’re pretty unobtrusive, and, honestly, no one has ever mentioned them when they come in.  I’ll be replacing this set because three of them are broken.  I’ve repaired them but have since found that I need to get new ones.

I’ve come home to find my little warrior fallen over with his head broken off.  On both occasions I’ve heard from our block watch captain that someone on our block had their house burglarized that same day.  I don’t know about you, but I find that to be a bit freaky!  And maybe it’s purely coincidental, but I’ll keep my little warriors, thank you very much.

Feng Shui in Laundry Room
Feng Shui in Laundry Room

Let’s head to the laundry room.  My laundry room is in the ‘health and family’ part of the feng shui map.  It may seem very perfectly placed, but it wasn’t me who decided to put the hands and feet print art where it is now – by the alarm pad.  We enter/leave through this area and, once again, to encourage positive energy flow for our family and health we were asked to put something in the space so that when we come and go we have a beautiful reminder of the importance of family.  Every year BabyGirl does hand/feet prints for CycleGuy as her Father’s Day gift, this one was her 2nd Father’s Day.

Silver Wall in Office
Silver Wall in Office

In the office we have one wall painted silver.  Yes, silver.  Not gray, but silver.  We had an amazing painter who did this and the wall looks great, even though the photo does not.  This part of the house is in the Children, Joy, Creativity, Travel portion and it is represented by metal.  You may also notice there are many pictures on that wall.  Each one symbolizes travel, places we’ve been, where we want to go or souvenirs of our visits (I collect leaves.  Weird yes, but leaves are (1) free and (2) beautiful).  Again, purposeful placement of things to bring about positive energy.  Also, my desk is where it is because it brings balance and support while I’m working.  Seriously, you’d think I was crazy if I told you that it really does help.  But it does!

This last picture is of BabyGirl’s play room/learning center.  Bright pink!  And while BabyGirl wanted the room to be pink — sparkly pink would have been better – we went for this particular shade specifically to bring harmony and balance.  Normally, red is the color of choice but due to our location in the Desert Southwest from a feng shui perspective we have to be extra mindful of red because it represents fire and it’s already very hot here and too much red can create problems.  So, bright pink it was.  You may also notice the green crystal hanging from the stairs (the white thing).  It’s not there to bring attention to the stairs so you don’t bam into them (although that is helpful too).  Instead, the crystal is there to bring in more positive energy.  It is a green crystal purposely, but I can’t remember why.

We have upwards of 12 crystals hanging around our home.  I often forget about them and no one has ever mentioned anything about them.  When I’ve purposely told  them they had to really look to find them and even then couldn’t really see them even though they are hanging from the ceiling or from ceiling fans or near windows.

Throughout my house I have all sorts of subtle things that help to draw in positive energy, collect the negative and dispense with it.  I know feng shui isn’t for everyone.  My grandparents traveled to China in the early 1980s and since then I’ve been fascinated by the purposefulness of this philosophy.  Feng Shui has been something that I always wanted to do and now, each year, I make sure my budget allows for my feng shui tune up.  Again, it’s not for everyone.  However, if you’re looking for ways to enhance peaceful living, abundance and prosperity I encourage you to seek out a skilled master to help you.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Also, if you have had your house balanced using Feng Shui I’d love to hear about your experiences and the ways your master has helped you.

I LOVE the silver wall in your office, it looks gorg!! I also like the little fountain by your front door. I may do that too. 🙂

Cassie, welcome! So glad you stopped by. I love my silver wall too. Definitely not something I would have thought of on my own. Placing a fountain at the front of your house is a lovely way to introduce and encourage positive energy to flow into your home. It can help to bring abundance and prosperity, something we all could use a little more of! Again, welcome and I hope you stop by again soon.

I noticed the crystals—well 2 or 3…1 in the guest room and 1 in the playroom, and 1 in the bathroom (I think?)…The most important thing I noticed and felt IMMEDIATELY upon walking in the door was that your house was so calming, peaceful, and warm and inviting….I was a little nervous I’d see a scorpion though hehehe….but I believe that [CycleGuy] and you make the home so peaceful just with your words and attitude—you encourage and have faith in people, you believe the best in them, you speak softly and gently and not rushed, and just by your body language as well as in your speech you show immense tolerance for another’s faith and beliefs…I was truly humbled and left your place feeling renewed, refreshed, and rejuvenated. My house is far too noisy to achieve such serenity hahaha

Lisa, I’m glad you felt the positive energy I’m working to create in my home. Thank you for being part of the positive in my life!
