National Ice Cream Day 2013

As an ice cream loving family, when Tillamook contacted me about trying their new ice cream and yogurt there was little hesitation in my reply. I didn’t realize Tillamook had expanded beyond their very yummy cheese to add yogurt and ice cream. Despite the blazing temperatures, Tillamook shipped me 3 flavors of their premium ice cream and 6 yogurts.

When my packaged arrived, I took photos to share on Instagram because I thought others who know the Tillamook brand would be interested to know they now sell ice cream and yogurt. That’s the photo you see above. I was surprised at how many people didn’t realize Tillamook expanded into ice cream and yogurt. And being that today is National Ice Cream day, I thought it made great sense to share this new brand of ice cream with you.

Never mind that both CycleGuy and I are lactose intolerant, when it comes to ice cream we know how to manage so we can have some. We were sent the Vanilla Bean, Strawberry, and Mudslide. With almost 30 flavors to choose from, these are 3 of their most basic. I went for the Tillamook Mudslide because I’m a chocolate-lover. And it didn’t disappoint – chocolate, with chocolate fudge chunks, and a chocolate ripple. It’s a trifecta of chocolate!

With National Ice Cream Day upon us – why just one day? – I was glad to have some Tillamook on hand. It’s very creamy andTillamook Vanilla Ice Cream definitely one of the more premium brands. And the best part about it is that I can pronounce all the ingredients. I am one of “those people” who stands in the ice cream aisle and read the labels on the product.

If you’re like me you know Tillamook from their cheese. I figured since their cheese is one of the top brands, surely their ice cream had to be made with the same commitment to quality as their cheese. Both the new ice cream line and yogurts are made with the same philosophy as their cheese, to bring the best quality products from the farm to your table. It’s evident that they put a lot of work into getting the ice cream and yogurts just right.

So on this National Ice Cream Day, if you’re in a state that carry’s Tillamook you should grab some. Unfortunately, the products are not sold nationwide due to shipping limitations that prevent maintaining quality standards. I’ll be making ice cream sandwiches, how about you?
