Reflecting on 2010 – How to Take This Year and Make the Next Better (Part 2)

Yesterday I wrote about identifying all the roles you have. In reflecting on 2010, were you able to come up with a list of all the roles and responsibilities pertaining to you and your life? Was it a long list? Longer than you expected to create?

Did you look at the list and look at it with your mouth wide open, in wonderment of all the things you are to all the different people in your life? I hope it was eye-opening to see how multi-faceted your life really is.

Look at that list you created in Step 1: What roles do I have in life?

Today let’s move on the Step 2: What do my roses look like?

Roses are those beautiful things that you associate with each of the roles you had. What are the highs? The things that make you say ‘I am awesome’ or ‘I’m glad that something happened’. Maybe they are things you’d like to experience again in 2011. Are the roses you think of big and gorgeous like the long-stemmed beauties you see gracing the entrance of a luxury hotel? Or are they more like the little tea roses you see brightening those banzai-ish bushes at the grocery store? Regardless, they are equally fabulous and make you smile, think lovely thoughts and maybe even lean in to smell their sweet scent.

Those are the things you’re thinking of today. Roses!

As part of my Year of Awesome, I’ve had a lot of pretty great roses fill my virtual vase. For example, I was able to attend 5, yes F-I-V-E five, blogging conferences this year. Last year at this time, I couldn’t even imagine attending one. I was paralyzed about getting my blog started, much less thinking about blogging conference. Another rose I can add to my virtual vase is finding a great condo in San Francisco. It took a lot of work but CycleGuy and I searched and searched and were able to find a place to call our California home.

There is no limit to the number of roses your virtual vase can hold, so don’t hold back!

I’d love to know what great things were part of your year, so please share what your roses look like.

Come back tomorrow as we continue our journey of Reflecting on 2010. See you on Wednesday!

The beautiful rose images you see on my blog today are courtesy of my friend Kate who not only is a phenomenal photographer but also a wonderful card-crafter and blogger.  Check out her site, Songs Kate Sang, and her etsy shop while you’re there.

I’d probably have to say getting to know so many bloggers and people via social media has been one of the biggest roses I have had for the year. So many awesome people that I now consider friends.

Also although I haven’t gone to any blog conferences yet I have gotten to sponsor some people and attend some tweetups. Of course I am also thankful that blogging, twitter, facebook and other mediums have helped my business quite a bit. It’s been a good year.

Roses: All the traveling I’ve done this year, Speaking at a few conferences, Meeting more amazing people than I could ever say, Growing an amazing local social network, Both my children entering school, Being given amazing work opportunities, Having a close family… I feel like I could go on and on…
