San Francisco Chocolate Has A New Name – TCHO

TCHO Chocolate

If you’re a dark chocolate lover, welcome to a slice of heaven. TCHO (pronounced as CHO) is a boutique chocolate company located along the Embarcadero in San Francisco. BabyGirl and I discovered them when walking around town with CycleGuy on New Year’s Day. Tour? Ooooh! Sign me up!

BabyGirl and I signed up for a tour, which you do online at their website. Fortunately, BabyGirl just turned 8 since that’s the minimum age for the tour. It’s a short tour, about 45 minutes. But the best part is the samples after and the information about how they get the chocolate to have such unique flavors without adding flavorings or additives. For example, there is no fruit in Fruity, no nuts in Nutty and no citrus in Citrus but each of these varieties has the subtle flavor.

Right now, TCHO concentrates on Dark Chocolate. Milk Chocolate will make its debut this year. What I appreciate most is the focus on fair trade and actually doing more. On TCHO products you’ll see  NO SLAVERY designated on every product. The chocolate industry is rife with companies turning a blind eye to these working conditions. TCHO says no. Sure, it means that their product will cost a little more. But I’d rather pay a little more and know that I’m not supporting human trafficking.

Saving for my dreams means I’ve given up a lot of the ‘little indulgences’. So why am I talking about boutique chocolate that is surely more expensive than the average chocolate bar found at the grocery checkout stand? Well, if I’m going to eat chocolate I’d like the best quality possible. Then I know it’s a real treat and also know that what I’m getting is something worth having waited for. So instead of downing a 2oz average bar of chocolate I’ll have a 1/4oz piece of the best chocolate available.

To see how it’s made, know that they support causes that are important to me and that such a fine product is something I can share with many of my dearest friends is one I can get behind. At the tour I found out that TCHO is certified Kosher-D AND Gluten Free! How awesome is that? I know what I’ll be sharing with many of my friends!

When you think of San Francisco chocolate, another name often comes to mind. But they no longer call San Francisco home. Modern San Francisco has embraced what is the only chocolate manufacturer in San Francisco. New American Chocolate for the New American Woman!

If you’re heading to the Bay Area or are in the Bay Area, I high recommend taking the free tour and checking out the TCHO store. If you’re not in the area, check out their online store. You won’t be disappointed!

Disclosure: BabyGirl and I went twice and bought and paid for our own products. The tours are free to anyone. So while we felt special to get a free tour, everyone is a VIP for their tour.
