What’s a kid to do with their summer? Read, of course!
Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program – Kids earn a free book when they read 8 books. Download the reading journal to track the books and turn in to get the free book.
Half Price Books Feed Your Brain Reading Program – Kids earn $5 store credit for reading 600 minutes (10 hours) between June 1 and July 31.
Borders Summer Reading Program – By reading 10 books, your child can earn one free book.
Local Library – Many local libraries offer some type of summer reading incentive.
Independent Booksellers – Check your local area to see if the independent book sellers are offering a summer reading incentive for kids. Many do offer something for the kids.
My friend Kristie at Saving Dollars and Cents has a few more Summer Reading Programs listed on her site.
Know of any others? Let me know and I’ll share them!
Note: Of course there are rules, restriction, limitations and what have you (darn lawyers!) for each of the programs so read the fine print. It’ll give you something to do while your kids are reading and trying to earn free stuff!

Last week I had several posts about Summer Reading Programs that will encourage the kids to read and reward them with a special treat. Barnes & Noble, Borders and Half-Price Books are all participating this summer.
I have a guest post up at Madame Deals with all the information in one place. Head over there, or click on the links above to get all the details.
Half Price Books has a great summer reading program for kids – Feed Your Brain. Instead of earning pre-determined books, they offer a $3 Shoppers Card. Here are the details:

What: Earn a $3 Shopping card for each week that they read at least 15 minutes per day.
