The Back To School Shopping Adventures of a School Supply Junkie

School Supplies

If there were a 12-step program for school supply addicts, I’d be there after an intervention from my friends and family. Honestly, I have to limit my trips to the office supply store because I’m easily distracted. Ooooh, liquid pencil? I need one of those! Cute notebook? Well, you can never have enough notebooks, right?

Pencils, paper, notebooks, pens, glue, tape, folders, note-card holders. You name it, I could find a reason why I need it. And when they’re on sale, there’s no stopping me! One year I bought something like 100 packs of filler paper for less than $5. I then proceeded to donate most of it because everyone should benefit from my love of school supplies.

Online shopping opened an entirely new world up for me. Personalized notebooks? Easy! Custom stickers and labels for BabyGirl? Yes, please!

My love for the written word takes me to Tiny Prints often. So it makes sense to go Back to School with Tiny Prints. They’ve got the cutest things! And, honestly, they’re quite reasonable.

My one misgiving about shopping for school supplies is that everyone pretty much ends up with the same stuff. Sure, it makes for low prices. But, there’s more to life than that. It’s like all the tech we have. You put it down and it looks like all the others. So we customize. School supplies are like that for me. After awhile, you just need something that fits your personality.

I joke with BabyGirl that going back to school shopping means I can get cool school supplies like she does. But, I find it just as exciting to share my love for unique notebooks, stickers, and cards by getting her things that are “not like the others”.

There will be a Back To School-themed Twitter party hosted by @ResourcefulMom on Tuesday the 21st from 1-2pm PT/4-5pm ET. There will be prizes so you’ll want to RSVP for the TinyPrints Twitter Party.

I know I’m not the only one who has this love for school supplies. And because I know this, I’ll be an enabler! Tiny Prints is offering one Saving For Someday reader a $50 credit (with free standard or USPS shipping) to be used on the Tiny Prints site. (Please note the credit is not valid for calendars, photo books, Erin Condren notebooks & planners, and gift certificates).

  1. I am addicted to writing utensils such as pens, highlighters, and especially sharpies! They are so much fun to use and have so many uses 😀

  2. I have had a love for school supplies for a long, long time…starting at a young age. I couldn’t wait to find the most unique supplies! Now I have passed my love to my daughter! Even on trips we get bendable pencils or funny shaped pens, so fun!! My all time fave would have to be pencil grippers though, I know it’s strange but I just can’t pass them up.

  3. I love school supplies too, but right now what I will be buying soon at Walgreens probably, paper clips, some mini notebooks (mini notebooks are so handy to have to take notes. Yes, my family would say I am so old fashioned to still use pen and paper.), maybe some index cards, some sharpies! I seem to have lost all my sharpies and maybe some scissors. I have lost most of my scissors somehow. I had quite a lot and wonder if I left them behind at one of our coupon meetups.
