Whole Foods Grass Fed Beef Sale

All the beef sold at Whole Foods has been certified by Global Animal Partnership’s 5-Step™ Animal Welfare Rating program. On Friday, September 13, 2013 Whole Foods Market will offer its 100% Grass-Fed Ground Beef  for only $4.99 lb. Check with your store about the lean percentage, as it will vary by location.

Grass-fed beef is a leaner choice than grain-fed beef and it has a more favorable ratio of omega fatty acids. Grass-fed beef runs the risk of drying out or becoming overcooked more quickly than grain-finished beef, so you need to adjust your usual cooking time.   • Grass-Fed beef is best when removed from the refrigerator 15 minutes or so prior to cooking. Cooking it cold may result in it being overcooked.
  • When cooking on the grill you’ll want to avoid cooking directly over the flames.
  • When cooking in the oven, lower the oven’s cooking temperature by about 25°F compared to other types of meat.
