Yesterday I Was Wonder Woman

by

This is the header for my friend Marlynn’s blog. I met her on the Twitters. I’ve never met her in real life (IRL), but I definitely consider her to be a friend. When I open my inbox a few weeks ago and see an email from her saying she wants to feature me on her blog in a new series she’s doing, I was a little surprised. See, Marlynn is amazing! She’s a speaker, an entrepreneur, has her own design business where she does real design stuff for real paying fancy clients, and she bakes and makes fancy dinners. And she wants to feature me?

Let me start this from, oh, about 5 months ago. I’d been following and tweeting with Marlynn for awhile (if you don’t follow her on Twitter, you should. She’s @designmama) and then I take a road trip to California. You know, the one in which the windshield is smashed while driving. But before any glass is shattered I’m checking twitter and I see a tweet and am compelled to respond with a Ricky Bobby-ism from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Honestly, I don’t know if the prior tweet had anything to do with Talladega Nights but the fun was just about to begin. For most of my trip there were a few of us tweeting random Ricky Bobby-isms. But Marlynn and I devised a plan (which we have yet to actually create or monetize) on opening an Etsy shop dedicated to Talladega Nights. Now don’t think you can do it because you read it here. Because we called dibs on it on the Twitters so we own it. That’s how it works on the Twitters. Duly noted, yes?

Then came the #OfficeJaguar. This fine mystical animal helps to keep business people focused. That’s our next venture, so no stealing that one either. If you’ve never watched Talladega Nights you need to. It was robbed of an Oscar. That’s all I have to say. #OfficeJaguar was born out of the scene in the movie involving, well, I don’t want to give away the whole subplot so I’ll just tell you that it involved driving a vehicle in which there was a large cat that one would expect to see at a zoo or animal preserve. Not in a car.

Where was I? Yes, so @designmama and I have fun conversations about random things and have found ways to connect and encourage and support each other. And I know that when I do meet her IRL that everyone better step aside because there will be all kinds of laughing and foolishness and crazy conversation happening. Because that’s what online friends do when they finally meet.

So what does all this mean? It means that yesterday, Wednesday, December 1st, I was Wonder Woman. But many of you didn’t get a chance to see me in this debut. So head on over to Marlynn’s fab blog and check out my stint as Wonder Woman. And if you go, please leave some comment love so Marlynn and I know you were there.  #OfficeJaguar always knows, just keep that in mind.

I wondered how the #officejaguar thing started…. Can I tell you that I thought it had something to do with the cougar title that women have, and somehow you turned it into a jaguar??? See what happens when you don’t know the whole story? You ASSume.

How did you not meet Marlynn at the conference we went to? That’s where I met her and she. is. darling. 🙂
